I am so exited to have gotten the new Holiday 2014 Sonia Kashuk Jazzed Up Nudes Lip Palette! I love the idea of a nude lip palette after the beautiful reds used in Sonia Kashuk’s last lip palette.

Check out the photos below and then let me know– at different angles, the colors at times seem more brown and at others more peach/orange. It will likely take a bit of testing before I can tell for sure but leave me your opinions in the comments!

I usually buy a backup of my palettes so that my heart isn’t quite as broken when I finish one, so I had a chance to compare this new Jazzed Up Nudes lip palette with the A Powerful Pout lip palette for this photo. Side by side, these are two gorgeous palettes.

You probably thought I was done with plum after making a three-post ode to my favorite shades of plum makeup, but no– I am actively adding to it with Sonia Kashuk’s Shine Luxe Lip Color in Sheer Plum.

See all of my purchases together, including the brush cleaner, above. If I’m honest, I wash my makeup brushes every 3-4 weeks (not every week) with baby shampoo but will be glad to have something new to spot clean with between washings. If you have any tips about Sonia Kashuk’s brush cleaner, let me know; this is my first time trying it out.

Small November Haul; Hair and Nails, please!

Macadamia Natural Oil Dry Volumizing Dry Shampoo and Deep Repair Masque; Essie Nail Polish in Spin the Bottle (left) and Sable Collar (right)

What do you do when an appointment you’ve had for months suddenly gets canceled at the last minute? You go next door and buy stuff.

Macadamia Natural Oil Volumizing Dry Shampoo

Macadamia Natural Oil Volumizing Dry Shampoo

Where do I start? First, I am not someone who goes in for dry shampoos. If my second-day hair looks too oily, I wash it with a gentle, sulfate-free shampoo. I know there are a million theories out there about why you should or shouldn’t wash your hair everyday but I really think it depends on your hair type and oil glands. However, I found myself really wishing that I had a dry shampoo a few weeks ago and decided it was time to at least try one out. I love the Macadamia Natural Oil line so I grabbed their Volumizing Dry Shampoo and can’t wait to see if it works.

Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque

The other Macadamia Natural Oil product I picked up is one that I am already slightly enamored with. The Deep Repair Masque makes my hair so, so soft and I am so happy to have found a tube of it instead of a tub. Can someone please tell me how long the tube has been around? Am I blind? Has it been on the shelf all along and I just didn’t see it!? I’ve been getting the tub for years now and can’t explain how much I loathe it! Water always seems to find its way inside no matter how careful I am, which makes it gross and diluted over time, and I’ve dropped it so many times try to screw the lid on with product in my hands …ugh! So, yes. I am very happy to have found the tube.

So, I have tried both of these Essie Nail Polishes now and have to admit that both look equally hideous with my skin tone. I will definitely be giving these away as soon as possible. The colors are gorgeous in the bottles and I have no doubt both will be gorgeous on someone else’s nails– just not mine. Oh, well. I can’t be too mad. I found Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque in a tube!

Review: The Body Shop Body Butters in Shea and Mango

The Body Shop | Body Butter in Shea and Mango

The Body Shop | Body Butter in Shea and Mango

While recently weekending, I grabbed a couple of travel-sized body butters to take with me at Ulta. I have never been a fan of The Body Shop for a variety of vague reasons that have ceased to make rational sense after trying their body butters. Not only do these body butters smell absolutely amazing, they last all day in terms of both moisture and scent. I put this on in the morning after my shower and my skin still felt ridiculously soft and fragrant when I woke up the next morning.

Like, these might actually be on par  with L’Occitane’s Shea Butter Ultra Rich Body Cream but at a fraction of what L’Occitane costs. Except that The Body Shop is using parabens in their formula.

So, while I was thrilled with this discovery, I was also a bit chagrinned. The inclusion of parabens in skincare and makeup products has been a huge source of huge controversy the last few years, I’m sure you know, and for good reason given the evidence.

Maybe The Body Shop will go back to the paraben-free formula that was once available? Please?

Sweater Love 2014: Express Sequin Aztec Print Crew Neck Sweater

Express.com | Sequin Aztec Print Crew Neck Sweater in Heather Gray and Ivory

Express.com | Sequin Aztec Print Crew Neck Sweater in Heather Gray and Ivory

A few posts back I shared a secret about my shopping habits; I am one of those people who buy a single clothing piece in multiple colors. When I saw this sweater on express.com, I immediately knew it was going to happen again. I went to the store to try it on (a recent online shopping disaster has put me off buying clothes online for a while), and they were having a special: buy one and you get another for $30. Unfortunate for me and great for you, these sweaters are now on sale for $41.94.

I really love the fit and while it seems like a lot of sweaters are shorter this fall, I don’t mind the length of this one at all. But don’t get me wrong, I like the cropped look. However, a lot of sweaters I’ve tried on seem to be this strange, confusing length that isn’t short enough to be cropped but is also too short to hang correctly. It’s an undeniably unflattering look for just about every body type so I hope the fad doesn’t linger too long.

I also really like crew neck sweaters in general and find this to be great under a blazer or on its own. Because it is rather light weight, its also great for the transition to winter and the sequins mean that you can leave the necklace at home.

I didn’t notice  that the Ivory sweater had white sequins from the picture on the website, even when I zoomed in to see the details. It’s just another reason I’m glad I went to the store to purchase this sweater; not that I would have been disappointed to find white sequins, but I really did miss this detail while browsing on my laptop.

Overall, I am super happy with both and am glad that I got both the gray and ivory. Be sure to let me know if you have any sweater recommendations in the comments!

Ulta Haul: In-Store Napoleon Perdis 75% off Sale

Napoleon Perdis Haul: Tinted Moisturizer, Concealer Brush and Eyeshadow Quad

Napoleon Perdis Haul: Tinted Moisturizer, Concealer and Eyeshadow Quad

Forewarning: I’ve yet to try these products. I saw the 75% off sale on the entire line of Napoleon Perdis at Ulta (they will no longer be carrying this brand) and couldn’t pass it up. Now, I have tried a couple of products from Napoleon Perdis a few years back and remember liking them. However, I’ve never tried their tinted moisturizer or concealer so this will be an interesting venture.

Once I have had a chance to try to the products out, I’ll make an update. Until then, you might want to take a quick browse at the selection if you’re heading to Ulta soon to see if you can find anything from the line that appeals to you. I believe Nordstrom will still be carrying the line and it will also be available for sale online, so don’t worry if you get hooked on something.

napoleon perdis mighty concealer pen review

The brand states it is 98% paraben free, which I appreciate– though I would be even more appreciative if it was 100% paraben free. There are also ingredients included in their line that Napoleon Perdis claims fight free radicals which is great.
