Review: Napoleon Perdis Mighty Concealer Pen

Napoleon Perdis Mighty Concealer Pen in Mellow Yellow

Napoleon Perdis Mighty Concealer Pen in Mellow Yellow

I’ve been using the Mighty Concealer Pen from Napoleon Perdis everyday for the last two weeks, which is the first hint that I love this concealer. I am extremely picky about concealers and have no issue with skipping that step in my makeup routine when unsatisfied with the products on hand.

Now, I use this concealer under my eyes but have actually used it on other areas of my face due to a small user error so let me tell you all about it.

Makeup Basket Wednesdays: November 26, 2014

Makeup Basket Wednesdays

I know that a lot of people sit at their vanity tables to do their daily makeup. I tend to do something that I grew up watching my mother do every morning. Instead of sitting in the same place everyday, my mother would take a small basket with her makeup tucked inside of it, along with a mirror, around the house until she found the best natural light.

Like her, I keep my most used items in a basket for easy carrying and thought it would be fun to share what is in my basket from month to month. I’m not sure how long I’ll do this– probably until it gets boring.

If you have any suggestions, be sure to let me know!

tarte Kiss and Makeup 5 Pc Amazonian Butter Lipstick Set

Kiss and Makeup 5 Pc Amazonian Butter Lipstick Set:

tarte’s Kiss and Makeup 5 Pc Amazonian Butter Lipstick Set (L-R): Sweet Peach, Candy Red, Merry Berry, Angelic Nude, Pink Poinsettia

tarte’s online-only Kiss and Makeup 5 Piece Amazonian Butter Lipstick Set is glorious. The colors are vibrant, shade-perfect and actually do glide on like butter. I’m pretty new to tarte as a brand, having bought their Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Full Coverage Foundation on an impulse and picking up the Away Oui Go Portable Palette & Collector’s Set  not long after; two of the best makeup-related decisions I’ve ever made, to be honest.

tarte’s packaging has always been a major turn off for me. I still don’t really care for the form but love the function; tarte’s packaging is more environmentally friendly than most, to the point that their lipstick bullets come in cardboard instead of plastic. Pretty awesome! And the cute foil designs on these lipsticks are great, though I am uncertain how they will hold up inside of the makeup bag in my purse. It can get a little rough in there unfortunately. I might have to report back on that.

Glass Tea Carafe from World Market

Arabesque Glass Tea Carafe from World Market, $9.99

Arabesque Glass Tea Carafe from World Market, $9.99

This carafe caught my attention from the bottom shelf of the tea accessories area at World Market. Aside from being a gorgeous carafe, I am always looking for an alternative to my ceramic tea strainer (infuser?), as it stains super easy and then I feel like I have to hide it. Also, I have this paranoia that I’ll break it because it’s so thin.

Glass is always my material of choice for storing liquids, so I am naturally prone to be incredibly happy with this carafe. The strainer doesn’t sit as flush as I would like but the carafe is attractive enough that I don’t care. Plus, I will likely also use it for water. Since it’s insulated, it won’t matter if the liquid I keep in it is hot or cold, which I appreciate. Another plus is being able to throw it into the dishwasher without worry; I definitely don’t need more hand-wash only items in my kitchen.

My only real complaint is that it isn’t bigger; I’d love if it came in multiple sizes. Otherwise, I’m pleased with most anything that makes my loose tea habit easier.

Yum!

Zoya Review: Professional Lacquer and PixieDust

Zoya Madeline Nail Laquer and Noir PixieDust copy

Zoya Professional Lacquer in Madeline (left) and PixieDust in Noir (right)

I picked up a few new nail polishes over the weekend and while shopping, I made the decision to try a new brand. After researching nail polish ingredients, and brand practices, a few weeks ago– Zoya came across as a standout, and the colors I found in stock at Ulta were gorgeous. After trying the polish out this week, it is fair to say that Zoya has blown me away!

I have yet to see any chipping five days in. However, the formula for the Professional Lacquer was thick and more difficult to work with than other polishes I’ve used. I can forgive Zoya for that, as the two coats I applied dried smooth and glossy. Honestly, the results are absolutely worth the small amount of difficulty I had during application.

The PixieDust is truly beautiful. Without a topcoat, it is like sparkly 3-D art. However, I don’t like having an uneven texture to my nails so after applying a topcoat, my nails lost that multidimensional appearance. To be honest, I was expecting it and am still pleased with the shine and color, and I will definitely be looking for new PixieDust colors to add to my collection.

Overall, I will be growing my Zoya collection period and am happy to have given the brand a try. If you have any color recommendations, be sure to let me know in the comments!
