Summer is here, and let me tell you, I am excited! What’s less exciting? The state of my car’s trunk is not only unexciting– it might also be a little bit of a mess. And I’ve saved the glorious task of cleaning out my trunk for a day when I felt like I could get nothing else done. Well, that day has officially arrived. As a reward for a job well done, I’m going to outfit my trunk with seasonal essentials for maximum summer fun.
So, here it is: Adie’s Trunk Prep for Summer Fun!
- A bathing suit. Now I won’t have to sit idly by this summer, baking in the heat, while my friends and family bask in a glorious body of cool, relaxing water.
- Light-weight chairs. I have two of these little chairs that collapse into nearly nothing and weigh even less. The chairs definitely come in handy during summer outings and I never forget them since they’re packed away in my trunk.
- An old blanket. You might wonder why I would want an old blanket in my trunk. It does sound a little odd, I admit. But it comes in handy when I need to quickly wrap up a new purchase, transit breakables, or decide to have an impromptu picnic. Yes, I said picnic. Grab a sandwich, or whatever you like to lunch on, and unroll your old blanket under a tree.
- Stainless steel water bottle. How many times have you run out of the house without your reusable bottle? If your answer is never, then you’re amazing. I give mine a quick cleaning after each use and then toss it back into the trunk when I’m done so that it’s always there. And since it’s stainless steel, I worry a lot less about it heating up in the trunk than I would if it was plastic.
- A hat. When I know that I’ll be in direct sunlight for extended periods, you can bet I throw on the biggest, floppiest hat that I can find. Does it draw stares? Absolutely. Do I care? No way. However, that doesn’t mean that I want to wear a huge hat everywhere I go. Keeping it in my trunk works well for me, as I’m rarely without it.
I’d love to hear your suggestions, too. Leave a comment to share your own summer trunk essentials!
